nasa shuttle rockets mainly use hydrogen and oxygen so the "smoke" coming out the back is water. it rains after every launch so green peace that. no idea about other agencies etc

could they use steam technology to actually launch rockets? i hear everyone jumping up and down about cars using fuel, creating a hole in the ozone layer etc. etc, how about all the emissions that space agencies use sending rockets.? they burn incredible amounts of fuel.
