It's the 40th anniversary of the events that gave birth to the LGBT civil rights movement. To mark the occasion, I take a look at 3 issues that seem central to the movement right now. Happy Pride to everyone celebrating. Links to more information about things discussed in the video: I'll put the other links up later. For now, here is a link a piece from the Advocate.com in which Professor Laurence Tribe of Harvard Law School says he was pleased that the Obama administration's Justice Department filed the brief it did in the SMELT v. UNITED STATES case. He believes SMELT is a weak case. Before posting a comment in which you opine that I've "glossed over" the administration's filing the brief or not "done [my] homework," you should read what Professor Tribe has to say. I agree with him. Thanks. http://advocate.com/news_detai... Current TV has a great Pride Month page on its website: http://current.com/Pride My favorite video in the series is "We Belong": http://current.com/items/76350... And, on the lighter side, Portia DeRossi "apologizes" for marry Ellen DeGeneres: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... Jonnystinkfoot, something tells me that you're probably not someone that anyone would go to for reliable information on any topic of any importance. It's just a guess, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

"Fricken homos" Not able to get laid lately, eh, Mycaddigo? Well, not to worry. That could happen even if you liked girls.

I do not believe that people are always logical when dealing with those they love, or indeed with the lives of those they love. "For want of a nail..."

Somewhat belatedly I'm addressing the 'lover' aspect of your question. I could have used the words "boyfriend', 'girlfriend', 'husband', 'wife', 'partner', or indeed all those terms, but the word 'lover' seemed to sufficient. It is a matter of logicality: whilst it is probably onerous for a military commander to knowingly sacrifice the lives of some of his troops to save the rest, it might be logical (insofar as war is ever logical) to do so.
