Everywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, oh boyCause summer's here, and the time is right for fighting in the street, oh boyBut what can a poor boy doExcept to sing for a rock n' roll band'Cause in sleepy London townThere's just no place for a street fighting manNoHey! Think the time is right for a palace revolutionBut where I live the game to play is compromise solutionWell, then what can a poor boy doExcept to sing for a rock n' roll band'Cause in sleepy London townThere's no place for a street fighting manNoHey! Said my name is called disturbanceI'll shout and scream, I'll kill the king, I'll rail at all his servantsWell, what can a poor boy doExcept to sing for a rock n' roll band'Cause in sleepy London townThere's no place for a street fighting manNo

This song is one of the most political songs that the rolling stones ever made. It was about Traqi Ali who was a political activist a historian, writer, film maker, etc. He wrote it after an anti-war rally in 1968 at London's, U.S embassy. He also found inspiration from the violence umong some student rioters somewhere in Paris.

No, not the greatest ever, but damn this is a good song no? hey everybody has an opinion, who is the master rock and roll god that says "yes this is in fact the greatest song ever made"...that song doesnt exist, except for in the thoughts of an individual.

i absolutely love rage against the machine. i play the guitar and im working on a lot of their songs. However, this song has a very nice beat compared to ratms version. Rage's 'Maggie's Farm' is much better than Dylans though

The song isn't supposed to make you want to fight. |
