Took me less than an hour to build and it works perfectly. I get 22 digital channels (HDTV & SDTV) completely clear and static free. This homemade antenna works much better than any expensive store bought one. Don't waste your money at wal-mart. BUILD ONE OF THESE INSTEAD!!!

Must be ATSC, not NTSC. NTSC=analog, ATSC can be HDTV or SDTV, but it's digital either way.

Just built one of my own, works like a champ...just a little proper positioning/experimentation was all that was needed. Great design!!!

Is there any way to avoid the cursed UHF/VHF converter. I DO NOT WANT TO WASTE 1.50$, can I use some wires or something?

All coat hangers have a coating on them to prevent the steel from rusting. You probably have some with a coat of lacquer on them that still needs to be scraped off to make good electrical contact. Also it's a good idea to slip a bit of cardboard in where they cross. One of the things I've done is sand and then paint the board first. Good colors are black, silver and white but I did one in florescent green for a neighbor's kid's room and put plastic caps on the ends of the wires for safety.

I've built four of these so far and then I decided to pull down my obsolete TV antenna on the roof. I drilled out the aluminum rivets and based an outdoor HDTV Antenna on doubling these measurements. The "V"s are made from the hollow Aluminum rods cut to 14" with the ends flattened and drilled and then attached to the plastic insulator mounting brackets with weatherproof nuts and bolts It looks store bought and pulls in a 100% signal on all channels.See if your old antenna can be modified.

I built one - works just as well or better as the standard rabbit ears. but don't throw out the old one - use a splitter and have both antennas hooked up!

No, there is no deadline for all stations to go Hi-Def. All stations have to be digital (DTV) by February 2009, not hi-def. ATSC will still be around.
