Hannes Arch (2nd) after his major pylon hit in the Red Bull Air Race Rotterdam 2008 final: "I was just pushing too hard, you don't win if you don't push. It was just a little too much and I took too direct a line. I tried to fly the most direct line, the fastest possible line to win against Paul (Paul Bonhomme: "dead straight line"). We did nearly equal times in the semi finals and I'd expected Paul to go even faster in finals. So I had to risk it. It didn't work out but I tried it. That's racing. And that's how it is. I'm working hard on my airplane and myself. I've got a really fast airplane. I was struggling a little bit with the pressure -- I'm only in my second year. It was pressure I put on myself and also the media expectations. The more I get used to the situation the better. Hopefully I'll be able to beat Paul."

I was there, and what a sound.. Straight in front of me. At first I thought it was a bang in the exhaust pipe. Too bad i was concentrating and zoomed in on the blue gate ahead for a photo :-(
