Songs are always about stuff ;P audiences just think of the beat, they dont see the story in the lyrics.

I think its about the war (in general). How repetitive history (in general or about the war in particular) is. How the politicians (modern-"system") want to exploit you and consider you expendable, how they want to "keep you in the dark" in order to manipulate you at their will, and how the protagonist refuses to conform with their ideas-ways...
