And in my own defence - I never said she struggled with her notes, merely that in comparisen to some other singers "I" feel that she doesn't have as much control of "this particular" aria. It is not a criticism of her technical ability or beauty of her instrument. I think this is a really hard role to cast. Many can sing it wonderfully but lack that sharp/aggressive vocal timbre which really makes the role. For me, Serra IN THIS ARIA seems to lack that driving force/aggression/anger/frustration.

No matter how diplomatic I am, and how much I stress that it is only MY opinion, I still end up with replies that are unprovoked and unusually aggressive. I made it clear that I respect her, and I know that everyone has a different idea/opinion on singers they like, so I see no reason why you responded the way you did. It's just a user name and they're just opinions!

TO sillysoubrette-you live up to your name! She really does not struggle with her notes. Let us see if you will be able to sing this well if you live to be her age. That is, if you can still sing! I just listened to Diana's version, and her voice does not have the richness of Serra's, but then again Damrau is quite a few years younger than Serra was when this recording was made.
