A scale replica set on location, or a Matthew Yuricich matte painting?? I'd always thought it was a matte painting, but I could be wrong.

Unless he were completely exhausted and stunned, and spent the ride up gathering his wits and focusing on her. He is an astronaut trapped in an alien world running from apes, after all.

Can we leave politics aside and just discuss a fuckin' movie? One of the greatest endings in movie history. I still get chills every time I watch it. This ending wasn't in the original novel, but after seeing the film itself, writer Boulle would later go on to say that he wished he had thought of Serling's ending. Can't get much better than this. Amazing film; this will definitely be watched over and over again until that fateful day when society really does come to an end.
