If you like Pat Metheny , also check out Al Di Meola. I just discovered him recently and he's a great virtuoso guitarist as well. I found a copy of his "Land of the Midnight Sun " on vinyl and it's just awesome.

When Pat described how he came up with Antonio in one of his concerts (hummingbird center, Toronto, ON) he said that he was at some concert backstage or studio (don't remember excatelly) and he heard him play from far away, at first, he taught there were two people playing at the same time... it was then where he realized... this MEXICAN guy is a keeper...!!!!! Bien Antonio!

saw these three guys last november, probably the greatest jazz show ive seen.some of metheny's 87 string, crazy indian/african stuff was a little out there, but when they played the standards like this, I was in heaven

I love, love, love Pat Metheny. This man's a fucking genius. He's got to be one of best contemporary jazz guitarists. |
