Gatling guns were used in vietnam war and still are used in planes and helicopters.First gatling gun were invented in 1861 by Dr. Richard J Gatling but his gatling gun were very different from the modern gatlings what we have now.So gatlings have existed for pretty long time now.

Gatling-guns/miniguns what ever you want to call them, have existed for pretty long time already, they're not futureweapons :)
