This video is dedicated to the Estonian Volunteers of the 20th SS division and SS Battalion Narwa which fought attached to the 5th SS Panzer division Wiking. During the withdraw from Narwa and the Tannenbergstellung, fighting doggedly all along the way, the remnants of the division were encircled and surrendered to the Soviets after the final battles.The song was the song of SS Battalion Narwa: "Laul surnupealuu sõduris"(The Soldier of the Deaths Head)written in the Fall of 1944.Kord võitles Lõuna-Venemaal (Once in Southern-Russia fought) kaugel Doni steppides (in the far-away steppes of Don) uljas Eesti SS-pataljon, (a brave Estonian SS-Battalion) lauldes laulu Kuradist. (was singing a song about the Devil) Kord paisati itta, kord läände, (Once was thrown to East, then West) kõikjal seisime kaljudena (we stood everywhere as rocks) ning Neveli sood ja Tšerkassõ (and the swamps of Nevel and Tsherkassy) meil iial ei unuda saa. (we can never forget) :,:Rünnak relvade terases, tules, (Assault in the steel of arms, in the fire, kõlab leekides Kuradi naer - hah-hah-hah! (the Devils laugh sounds in the flames - hah-hah-hah!) Võrsub vabadusidu, (The radicle of freedom springs up) ei murta neid ridu, (these ranks will not be broken) kes Eesti eest annavad kõik:,: (who give everything for Estonia) Aeg sangarid kord unustab (Once the time forgets all the valiants) ja tandrid tasandab (and levels the battlefields) ja surnupealuu sõdurist (and about the soldier of the death's head) vaid tuul veel jutustab. (only the wind will still tell.) Teed tagasi meie jaoks pole, (There is no road back for us) ehk küll häving on silmade ees.(Even though Ruin is in front of the eyes).....
