Thanks so much. His singing and playing are extraordinary. It's amazing what presence and power he has up on a stage by himself. Meanwhile, so many rock bands depend on painful, ugly volume to make an impact.

reply to dweeb: Yeah, Jimi Hendrix in the context of modern guitarists. Just said Page, did not rip off this riff as far as I know. As for great guitarists, we just heard one. My personal favorite is Robert Johnson. Also Blind Wille McTell. This was just in context. It's not an argument.

jimmy page uses a very similar riff in in my time of dying. but even jimmy said he lifted alot of old blue riffs. but the speed and the cleaness he plays them at makes it different. i just wish they had better sound equiment back then so you could hear better what this dude is playing.

Oh, Jimi is the only one?

i know. it goes without saying. so many artists owe these great musicians a debt of gratitude and respect.

This thing gave me the chills! God bless whoever put this on U-toob.

Yeah. Half the bands in Rock have used this riff. Such bands aren't 'lifting' the riff, they are paying respect to the original artist. This and several other old delta blues songs have almost become public domain. This song is an institution of its own. |
