Actually, they didn't beoome real musicians, they already were. They wrote and recorded all of the music for the movie themselves. They also composed all the music for Christopher Guest's (Nigel Tufnel's) 'Waiting for Guffman' and 'A Mighty Wind.'

RustySacks, as you know, you asked for the story behind this band. Spinal Tap was a fictional band in a comedy movie called "This Is Spinal Tap". They weren't supposed to be a real band but I guess all of the people that saw the movie thought the songs in the movie were so good, they wanted to see them live. So, all the band members in the movie took music lessons and became real musicians. Here they are.

dave gilmour seems like one of the nicest most down to earth guys. live at pompeii proves his sense of humor. all the guys in the floyd have a great sense of humor and have great characters. waters seems like bit of an asshole but hes still cool.
