I could see some usefulness in this if it were set up with two wiimotes, so you could use both arms to play. It looks pretty impractical trying to play all the drums with one hand.

I stumbled on to this on accident when I was checking out the beryl controlled wiimote desktops, this is interesting to say the least, some infra red functionality would have put this straight over the top lol.
