Mario Savio was arrested many times and beaten up on several occasions. He worked on black voter registration and other civil rights issues in Mississipi, which cost several northern white college students like him their lives. He was under constant FBI surveillance for about a decade starting in 1964.Instilling cynicism and hopelessness in the population is a calculated tool used to keep the masses in line. Standing up for what you believe is *easier* now. Fight like hell and organize.

Mario Savio was a great student activist. I wish we had someone around like that today.
