Performance Art/Video Art Piece. By mixed-media artist Atom Piken. A painter, painting his body. Thirty-two words are repeated and looped, the sound becomes an ambient wash. Explores the body as subject/object and the search for meaning in chaos. Inspired by the work of video artists such as Bill Viola and Vito Acconci.

Thank you very much for this video. I woud appreciate any information that you can share about soundscaping, which is the only word I can find to describe your very beautiful soundtrack. It is so hypotnotic, that I was 2/3 through my first viewing before I realized how much the rhythm of the visual clips underlies the soundtrack, not just vice versa.

compelling. did you create the soundtrack? i'm very interested in where i might source similarly inspired sound scapes. can you make recommendations?

If you use your own body as canvas, should you not previously prepare the body, just as you would prepare the canvas? Should it not be shaven, waxed, set ready? Compare this to Pillow Book. And why the hell do you keep your fingerring? Doesn't that go precisely against the idea of the bare experience of paint?

I couldn't get through it sorry. The sound track is horrid. In no way did this film capture my attention. Sorry just being honest.
