Cool video, I have to admit. You are also correct about the hiring process. You make a lot of good points. The company I used to work for N'Code as a troubleshooter was downsized and now I went to Geeksquad. I have to say not everyone in the Geek Squad is completely inexperenced, and they can do good work. Then again I think can be all to easy to obtain the position. So both sides I agree with here. You guys do make good points. I like the unbiast arguement. Great video.

You have to take a test to become A+ certified. I know this for sure, because I am taking a computer repair class at my high school. What I would like to know is if you had to take the test "back in the day". I would also like to know is, if you DID take the test... WAS IT EASY AS HELL?! I want to get A+ certified, but the way you talk about it, it sounds like it isn't all that impressive... Could you give me more information on how you achieved your A+ certification?

Sorry we enjoy making money. And its $69 to run a diagnostics, if you would have bought a PSP then it would have been covered. Way to be cheap and get hosed in the end. <3

True true! I work for a local company, and I won't say the name, but it's just a small shop with three guys. I've fixed at least 10 problems in the past month that geek squad gave up on, saying the computer was hosed. They go to "school" to learn how to use the software, that's it. We don't even charge for diagnostics. We don't get payed unless we fix the problem...but a massive corporation needs to charge $65 for diagnostics...ridiculous.

Ok, so enough of all this bullshit. Geek squad uses a program called MRI PE. It boots as a pre-installed environment and binds with the OS. This program is FULLY automated. All they have to do is pop the disk in, boot the comp, click next a few times, and then come back when the system actually beeps, which is an hour or two later. If the program doesn't fix the problem, they either reformat, or give it back to the customer and tell them that they can't fix it. Geek Squad is a sham, period

1. the geeksquad agent(s) that work on your computer dont make the prices2. the prices are told to you in advance, dont like it? feel free to go somewhere else, but stop whining.3. obviously some people are willing to pay it so why would best buy not charge it?4. just like any company, not every employee is going to know what theyre doing, the hope is that the majority do and that those who dont get weeded out.5. diag: $69 hdd: $~120 install: $49 os install: $129 you are told ahead of time.

Geek Squad does not have time to take hours to figure out a problem, which is why reformatting is usually a simple solution to most problems computer issues. The local repair store doesn't get as many customers as Geek Squad. There is a constant flow of customers that make it nearly impossible for any work to be done on the computers in for repair. Geek Squad is unable to be fully dedicated to repairing computers like the local computer repair store.

Geek Squad might as well start selling the "I Am Rich" iPhone application. Seriously, the people that pay for Geek Squad services are the same people that don't care about gas prices. The only difference between the oil industry and Geek Squad though is that oil is actually useful.

haha im a geek squad agent and i totally agree with this. geek squad does overcharge by a long shot.and most techs do have problems with even the easiest task(one actually fried 4 mobos installing memory on laptops...hes never heard of ddr1 memory).but we are also highly underpaid.so any way around it everyone is getting screwed over. |
