EquestrianEquestrian events were included in the Olympic Games for the first time in 1900 and then in 1912, in a format very similar to that which was used at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.Equestrian consists of three disciplines: Jumping, Dressage and Eventing (Three-Day Event). On the programme of the Games of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, there are 6 events. The equestrian events of the 29th Olympic Games will be held in Hong Kong, China from August 9-20. The jumping and dressage events will be held at the main venue in Shatin and the cross country competition will be held at Beas River. The Equestrian is the development of the horse into a happy athlete through education. As a result, it makes the horse calm, and flexible, but also confident, attentive and keen, thus achieving perfect understanding with his rider.

riggy1990, how can you say that the riders just sit on the horses arse. It takes years of practice and also the horses have to be trained for years to be ready, I bet if you got on one of these horses and pop them over a 5ft fences you wouldnt be saying that the horse is doing all of the work, the rider has to control the horse ...

uuum, horse riding is one of the hardest sports there is. people have died doing it, and the riders do a loooooot of work!
eventandagilityadyct (December 31, 1969 at 5:59 pm)
the rider does a lot of work too. They have to both train the horse (because they aren't just born knowing how to do this stuff), and they also have to actually know how to ride... the rider is always shortening/lengthening the horse's stride to get them to the proper take-off point for each fence, which isn't easy to do. The horse's job is in the air over the fence, and the rider's job is absolutely everything else. It's not easy. They aren't just sitting on their arses.

love the horses but take it out of the olympics. do the medals go to nationality of the animal who is donig the work, or the rider who is just sitting on his/her arse. animals deserve it thats why i say get rid of it
