classic7890 you assessment of who pays most of the taxes is totally out of bounds. Everyone knows the rich are only taxed more in the sense of total amount due to the fact that their yearly income is they more money than anyone else makes, however, proportionally those earning <100,000 a year are being taxed more.YO!

You dont have to pay higher taxes under Obamas plan. He wants to create a national insurance plan to compete with private insurers, and you can opt out of it. In terms of employer provided insurance, he just wants to bring premiums down by making the system more efficient. Its not "socialized medicine", its a public-private partnership designed to benefit everybody.

If he isn't advocating socialism, then why do I have to pay higher taxes to pay for universal health care? Why can't I opt out of it and not be a part of it? I get great health care coverage through my employer.It's the same scam as Social Security and Americans are falling for it all over again.

No, actually it means revamping a broken, inefficient system that gives an incentive for costs to skyrocket and quality of care to plummet, and thats already costing more than in any other industrialized country. And no, he doesn't advocate socialism.
