I loved Charlotte Gainsborough in Jane Eyre and she was just as good in this film. If you buy the dvd the trailer is an extra. The 30+ boyfriend was a real ass, because he only called in the police when he found them together, and acted like a huge baby becaue she woudld not allow him to get as close as he wanted.

The point of both the book and the movie is that the two older siblings take on the role of parents for their younger siblings. They try to make a family and because the older siblings are young they cannot yet conceive of taking on a role as mother and father without being sexual with each other. It is a sad story of isolation. A better title might have been The Cement Island.

Great to see the clip from the movie where the line in the Madonna song comes from.Hearing it in the song is cool but watching it in this is brilliant,unique..Very well acted

Great movie, great book. But I'm not sure about the point of the book. Does the writer assume that children become sexually depraved if left unsupervised? In Lord of the Flies, the boys became savages when left completely unsupervised. But in this story, it's two brothers and sisters. Perhaps in this case it's sexual depravity, not physical violence, that takes over?

people don't cross dress because they don't like being what gender they are. that's when you are trasgender, that's when you feel you have been born a girl in a boy's body or vice versa. cross dressing has nothing to do with sexual orientation or wanting to be the other gender.
