Using an IR led array and some reflective tape, you can track fingers in thin air using the Wii Remote by Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. Umm.... No... You need the camera in the WiiMote. You don't need a Wii though, you can just get a WiiMote. Also, PS3's suck. Just get a good PC.
