Just to clarify guys, any 2 1/5 SATA HD will work!It even says so in the owners manual...does noone read it?P.s. It WILL void warrenty though.

You have two choices:Either back it up or download it.Seriously, read the instruction manual man, it tells ya there you can download the PS3 OS from your PC and put it on some form of portable media in order to install it on youre PS3.Hell, you can even install Linux if you want. And this is how my 40GB PS3 became a 500GB one.Any 2 1/5" SATA HD will work...But I'd go for 5200rpm as it makes less heat.

the ps3 is not like an actual pc. where as if u upgrade it u wont lose divers ,or the os, so its kool , the only thing that u can lose r ur games and music or movies that r stored on there , so best thing to do is to back it up on another drive.

this may be a weird question, but does upgrading the HD void any kind of warranty by sony?

What do you man the flash? Whats that? Also is the backwards capibility stored on the 60gb hard drive?

Yeah i was thinking the same thing, maybe you cant put any harddrive in, and needs to be a PS3 one, or maybe the Ps3 is smart enough to work it out itsself and has a little memory card chip in it to install such data. |
